Tap Tap Revenge 4 is a Guitar Hero-style game in which you get to play along to your favorite tracks.
The object of the game is to try to hit all of the beats at the right moment as they fall from the top of the screen. Tap Tap Revenge 4 comes with a small selection of preloaded tracks, the majority of which are just very short samples of the full song. If you want more you're going to have to get your wallet out.
Tap Tap Revenge 4 uses in-app purchasing, allowing you to use your iTunes account to pay for virtual credits that can be redeemed against songs or song packs. New songs can also be earned by leveling up in Tap Tap Revenge 4, but you get no choice over these.
The selection of songs available to buy in the Tap Tap Revenge 4 store is already impressive, and new offerings are being added all the time. You can download songs from a wide range of genres, which are neatly categorized in a well presented interface.
In terms of the game itself, Tap Tap Revenge 4 is great fun, and the touch controls are simple to get to grips with. There are four different difficulty levels and you can choose to play in one-player mode or go online and take on others (you can choose the difficulty level of your opponents).
The presentation of Tap Tap Revenge 4 is excellent, and we love the way the game screen varies depending on the artist. The audio quality is excellent, although it's a shame that hitting notes does not have an audio impact. In Guitar Hero for iPhone, for example, the note will only sound in the song if you hit it.
Overall though, Tap Tap Revenge 4 is an immensely enjoyable music game which will keep you amused for hours on end.
